4 communities to benefit from IFAD's agric programme in Dutse LGA


 Four communities in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa will benefit from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) programme.
The IFAD's Coordinator in the council, Malam Umar Abubakar, disclosed this in Dutse on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Abubakar said that the programme would be executed under the IFAD's Climate Change Adaptation and Agro Business (CCAAB).
He listed the benefiting communities as Kwadiya, Kasarau, Gandun-Fawa and Dagwaje.
The coordinator added that the programme included provision of irrigation facilities, youths` empowerment and climatic measures to control flooding.
Others are establishment of woodblock and Regeny Orchard in three locations to be selected from the communities.
Abubakar disclosed that irrigation facilities would be provided to enhance large-scale cultivation of wheat in the communities.
The coordinator stated that the youth would also be trained in budding, grafting and fish hatching.
According to him, the programme is being supported by the IFAD, Federal, State and Local Governments.
Abubakar opined that the programme would encourage youths in the areas to be engaged in agricultural production.
