KASCO to commence production of 30 metric tons of fertilizer per hour – – Official

The Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) is to commerce production of 30 metric tons of fertiliser per hour before the end of this year.

Its Managing Director, Alhaji Bala Mohammed disclosed this when some members of the Northern Elders Forum, led by Prof Ango Abdullahi, visited the company on Wednesday in Kano.

“The state government had acquired new blending machine and nine containers have arrived in Apapa port.

“When the blending machine is installed, the issue of non-availability of fertiliser will be history in the North as it will produce between 25 and 30 metric tons of fertiliser per hour,”he said.

He said that the company would employ between 500 and 600 additional workers in to the 700 workers that were currently in the company.

He said that although the existing blending machine was obsolete, it was able to produce 500 trucks of 30 metric tons of fertiliser each last year.

“We sold out the commodity to all the Northern states and I am happy to tell you that we made a profit of N150 million.”

He said that following appreciable performance of the company last year, the Federal Government gave the company a contract to produce 100,000 metric tons for distribution to farmers across the country.

Mohammed said the company, which was established by the former Gov. Abubakar Rimi in 1981, was abandoned by the previous administrations in the state.

“However, when the present governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje came in, he released N300 million for its resuscitation and Iam happy to tell you that that has yielded good result,” he said.

Prof Ango Abdullahi commended the Kano State for resuscitating the company.
