Gov. Badaru distributes 300 wheat harvesters to youth in Jigawa



Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa on Sunday distributed 300 wheat harvesters and threshers worth N58 million to empower youths across the state.

Distributing the items at Gambarin village in Ringim Local Government Area of the state,Badaru said that beneficiaries had been trained to use implements in established cluster farms.

He said the step was taken to encourage the youth engage in commercial agriculture as part of efforts to empower them economically.
He said that it would also enable them to serve as service providers for other farmers.

“We want to engage all our unemployed youth in farming business except the lazy ones that want to remain idle”

“Already, we have started expanding our irrigated land to accommodate more farmers that are willing to go into rice or wheat farming” he said.


The Governor explained that each of the 300 motorized harvesters cost N80,000, while 2.5 tone per hour thresher cost N850,000, just as a piece of one tone per hour thresher was bought by the government at the sum of N550,000 each.
