Jigawa fish sellers want market expanded

The Fish Sellers Association in Jigawa wants the fish market in Hadejia expanded to accommodate the large numbers of customers.

Alhaji Umaru Aliyu, the Secretary of the Association, made the demand in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.

Aliyu said that the need to expand the market became imperative because of the influx of customers from all over the country to buy fish.

He said that customers were also coming to the market from Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Burkina Faso and other West African countries.

“As I am talking to you, most of the fishermen and traders from the North-Eastern part of the country have relocated to Hadejia market in view of the insurgency in that region.

“ I am happy to also say that we are trading and living peacefully with them,” he Aliyu said.

The association secretary called on the Jigawa Government to reconstruct or expand the market to accommodate more traders and customers.
