Return to farm to achieve food sufficiency, District head urges Nigerians


Mr Peter Angbazo, the District Head of Wakama in Nasarawa State, has advised Nigerians to go back to the farm, acquire skills and other vocations for the country to achieve food sufficiency.

Angbazo made the call on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at his palace in Wakama, Akun Development area of the state.

“There is need for people to embrace Agriculture as no society can live comfortably without agriculture.

“Agriculture is the major source of livelihood of every family, nation and its importance cannot be overemphasized.

“If the youths and other Nigerians go back to farm, it will not only reduce overdependence on oil, but will also fight poverty, unemployment.

“The present economic recession facing the country will be a thing of the past, if Nigerians could embrace agriculture,’’ he said.

He also urged his subjects and Nigerians to live in peace with one another so as to achieve speedy development in the country.

“Our role is to preach peace and to ensure that people live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliation

“This is because no meaningful development could be achieved in any society without peace, as peace is priceless and is the necessary requirement for the development of any nation.

Angbazo commended his people for living in peace and urged them to sustain and enhance the tempo of unity and development in the area.

He urged his subjects and other Nigerians to be law abiding and respect constituted authorities in the interest of peace and National Development.
