Embrace irrigation farming, AFAN advises Osun farmers

Mr Kayode Afolabi, the Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Osun, has advised farmers to embrace irrigation farming so as to boost agricultural production in the state.

Afolabi, who gave the advice in Osogbo , said ‘’We are preparing for dry season farming and we have been helping farmers to put in place proper irrigation to boost food production,’’ he said.

Afolabi, who expressed the hope that there would be bumper harvest in 2017 as more people were embracing farming, said AFAN was working on obtaining disease control chemicals for farmers.

‘’We are working on providing disease control chemicals for all crops for farmers in our association.

‘’This is one of AFAN’s responsibilities to farmers and this will go a long way in helping to prevent any outbreak of crop disease, ’’ he said.

He said more assistance was underway for farmers through government agriculture extension agents.
