Plateau Council boss provide fertilizer to farmers to boost food production.

Jos - The Management Committee Chairman of Mangu local government area of Plateau State, Titus Bise, has reiterated his commitment to boost food production and appealed to farmers in the area to exercise patience as he is working towards providing fertilizer at affordable rate for them.

Bise who stated this at Mangu yesterday while launching the distribution of 10 trucks of fertilizer allocated to the council by the State government added that the 10 trucks of fertilizer were too few for farmers in the area whose population are mainly farmers.

He appreciated the State Government for the allocation of the 10 trucks of fertilizer stressing, "it is not enough for our teaming farmers, who constitute 90% of the council’s population. I assure our farmers that the Management will purchase 10 more trucks, to meet up the demand."

Bise added that "committees had been constituted in each of the 18 wards in the council to handle the distribution effectively in order to boost food production" and warned that "any person caught diverting the fertilizer meant for our committed farmers would be seriously dealt with."

He urged the committee members to display high sense of responsibility and commitment in the distribution and sales of the commodity to genuine farmers at the approved price of N4,000 as anything above that is criminal and will be treated as such.
