87 women cooperative groups receive fish smoking kiln in Delta

The Delta Government has distributed fish smoking kiln to 87 women cooperative groups in the South Senatorial District of the state, according to a statement.
The statement, issued by the state's Ministry of Information on Tuesday and made available to newsmen in Asaba, stated that the government had earlier distributed 183 kilns to women cooperative groups in Delta North and Delta Central Senatorial districts of the state.
It noted that the Chief Job Creation Officer, Prof. Eric Eboh, distributed the items to women, including transport fare at Ughelli, Warri and Koko centres, under the Production and Processing Support Programme (PPSP).
The gesture was in line with government's agenda at creating jobs for women and promoting fishery value chain support programme in the state.
The scheme, the statement noted, covered women cooperatives from the 87 wards in the eight Local Government Areas of the state.
Eboh, while distributing the items, urged women to put the items to good use to create jobs and wealth for themselves and in their communities.
He told the women that ``this is part of government’s empowerment programme at the grassroots in fulfilment of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa's promise of prosperity for all Deltans.''
