Association appeals to Gombe Govt. to resuscitate tomato processing company

The Vegetable Sellers Association has appealed to the Gombe State Government to resuscitate the tomato processing company in the state.
Malam Auwal Ibrahim, Chairman of Kwadon market in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, made the appeal in Gombe on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
While noting that the resuscitation of the company would help members to produce more tomatoes, Ibrahim said it would also increase the revenue profile of the state.
The chairman observed that the present cropping season had its challenges that had led to the shortage of tomatoes in the country.
He expressed the hope that the scarcity of tomatoes would soon become history as members had started making efforts to supply the farm produce to other states.
Ibrahim further appealed to the state government to provide farmers with inputs, soft loans and the water pumps to boost irrigation farming in the state.
